What to Expect During Your Cat or Dog's Checkup

Your vet in Sonora will provide your cat or dog with a physical checkup to obtain a full understanding of your companion's overall health. Routine wellness exams at Mono Way Veterinary Hospital consist of the following elements:

General Condition

The physical condition and general demeanor of your cat or dog could provide you with clues to their overall health and wellbeing. How they walk, stand, their level of alertness, and whether they are at a healthy weight for their size are all key indicators of their health condition.

Coat & Skin

At your pet's checkup, we will perform a comprehensive examination of your dog or cat's skin and coat for signs of problems, such as dryness, excessive oiliness, lumps, bumps, dandruff, shedding, or abnormal hair loss.

Face & Head

Your animal companion's nose, ears, and eyes will be checked for any abnormalities or discharge. We will also look at the mouth for symptoms of an oral health problem such as plaque buildup or periodontal disease. 

Internal Health

Heart rate and rhythm, pulse, and blood pressure play an essential part in your cat or dog's heart health. We'll conduct tests of these elements to make sure they're normal. The lungs will then be examined for evidence of abnormal breathing. 

Lymph nodes will be checked for pain or swelling, and we'll also examine the abdomen to ensure the kidneys, intestines, bladder, spleen, liver, and stomach all feel normal, and that your pet is not displaying any clues of discomfort. 

Review of Findings

When your dog or cat's checkup is finished, your vet will take the time to talk about any concerns they might have regarding your furry companion's overall health and discuss nutritional requirements for your pet. 

Nutritional Consulting

Our vets understand the power of knowledge. During any routine wellness exam, our vets will ask about your pet's diet and offer any relevant advice on how to make sure your companion animal gets the nutrition they need to thrive.

Checkups for Puppies & Kittens

Puppies and kittens require a certain level of professional medical care in the first several weeks of their life to get a healthy start. 

Your veterinarian will provide your new best friend with a complete physical examination, the appropriate immunizations, and deworming medication. Our team will also test your pet for intestinal parasites. You'll be given a puppy or kitten 'kit' containing samples and educational material to help you care for the newest member of your family.

In addition to the routine wellness procedures we conduct for all adult pets, we will place special attention on your senior companion's potential geriatric conditions, including arthritis or decreased vision.
